The Accounting Blockchain Coalition (ABC) is deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our users’ personal information. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) applies to information, including personal information, that ABC, collects about you when you visit our website, mobile app, or other online properties (collectively, “sites”), and it describes how ABC collects, uses, and shares your personal information. 

This Privacy Policy applies only to our sites and covers only information collected in connection with your access and use of our sites.  Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.  By continuing to interact with our sites, you are agreeing to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.  

Information We Collect 

We collect information from you directly when you sign up for a membership, use one of the Services, or choose to save information about your use of our Services. We also may use “cookies” and other tracking mechanisms to collect information about you when you visit our sites or Services. (A cookie is a small piece of text that a website or online service sends to a visitor’s browser.)  

What We Collect 

ABC collects information about you when you interact with our sites.  We collect information you provide to us through the sites and automatically from the devices you use to interact with our sites.  

We collect information when you establish a membership with ABC create an account, and contact us through our Inquiry form. The information we may collect includes your name, email address, and payment information.  

We may automatically collect certain information from you when you interact with our sites so that we can maintain our sites and recognize you when you return to our sites. Such information may include your IP address, the identity of your Internet Service Provider, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, and pages visited while on our sites. 

Our sites do not collect personal information about users’ online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services. Therefore, “do not track” signals transmitted from web browsers do not apply to our sites, and we do not alter any of our data collection and use practices upon receipt of such a signal. How We Use Your Information 

ABC uses the information collected about you, to: 

  • Communicate with you;  
  • Manage and improve our sites;  
  • Serve the functions of the sites;  
  • Analyze the performance and functioning of the sites;  
  • Study how members and visitors use the sites and to perform other market research;  
  • Prevent fraud, enforce the sites’ Terms of Use, to comply with all applicable laws and ABC’s corporate reporting obligations, and to enforce ABC’s agreements; and  
  • To facilitate transactions including processing and fulfilling purchases of memberships and communicating about payments and their status.  

Google Analytics. Our sites uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”) that collects information about how visitors use the sites. Google Analytics places a cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user. Only Google can use the cookie. Google Analytics collects information only regarding the domain/IP address, or device identifier, of visitors to the sites. It does not collect names or other identifying information. We use the information Google Analytics provides to us only to improve the sites and Services. We do not combine the information that Google Analytics collects with any personally identifiable information. The Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy restrict Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about visitors to the sites. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing your return visits to the sites by disabling cookies on your browser or by installing the Google Analytics browser add-on. Please refer to your browser settings for additional information on disabling cookies. 

How We Share Your Information 

Service Providers. We may use certain third parties and contractors (“Service Providers”) who perform services and functions on our behalf to assist us in providing and maintaining our sites and support our interactions with you including, for example, providing our products and services, processing your membership payments, or communicating with you. We may allow these Service Providers access to your personal information when necessary, subject to confidentiality agreements consistent with this Privacy Policy. 

Additional Disclosures. We also may disclose personal information about you:  

  • With your permission;  
  • As required by law or to comply with subpoenas, court orders, or similar legal processes including to law enforcement agencies, regulators, or courts;  
  • As necessary to enforce our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy;  
  • To investigate or defend against third-party claims or allegations;  
  • To prevent fraud against ABC and others; 
  • To support auditing, compliance, and corporate governance functions;  
  • To protect the security and integrity of our sites, property, and legal rights; and  
  • To protect our rights or personal safety and that of our users or others. 

ABC may also provide to third parties, including other businesses and members of the public, aggregated statistical data showing general usage patterns and statistics about our sties, interactions, and transactions.  This data does not personally identify you or provide specific information about individual usage.  

How ABC Uses Cookies 

When you visit our sites, ABC may place pieces of code, commonly referred to as “cookies,” or similar technology on your devices.  ABC may begin collecting information as soon as you visit our sites.  By using our sites, you permit ABC to collect and use your information in accordance with this Privacy policy.   

ABC uses cookies to collect information about how you use the sites. Many Internet browsers and mobile devices allow you to block the transmission of information, such as your IP address or location information, or to block the installation of cookies. You may choose to enable these options.  However, enabling these options may prevent you from using many of the core features and functions available on our sites.  

How We Protect Your Personal Information 

We use physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect the personal information that we collect and that is submitted to us, both while in transit and while in storage. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we use reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. 

Links to Third-Party Websites 

ABC may present links to content housed on third-party websites. If you click on such a link, we are not responsible for any information that you provide to, or that is collected by, third parties. Such information will not be covered by this Privacy Policy, and we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites that you reach through links on our sites. 

Children’s Privacy 

ABC sites are general audience sites not directed at children under the age of 13.  If we obtain actual knowledge that any information we collect has been provided by a child under the age of 13, we will promptly delete that information.  

International Visitors 

We maintain and operate our sites on servers located in the United States. If you choose to use our sites from regions outside the United States that have laws governing data collection and use that differ from U.S. law, you acknowledge and agree that you are transferring personal information outside of that region to the United States and, by providing such information, you consent to the use of your personal data as identified in this Privacy Policy and the transfer of your personal data to the United States. 

Business Transfers 

We may sell, transfer, or otherwise share some or all of our assets, including personal information, in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, or in the event of bankruptcy. 

California Privacy Rights 

We do not share any personal information with third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. If this practice changes, we will notify you by prominent posting on our sites. 

If you are a California resident under the age of 18, and a registered user of any site where this policy is posted, California Business and Professions Code Section 22581 permits you to request and obtain removal of content or information you have publicly posted.  To make such a request, please send an email with a detailed description of the specific content or information to membership@accountingblockchain.net. Please be aware that such a request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of the content or information you have posted and that there may be circumstances in which the law does not require or allow removal even if requested.  

Changes to this Privacy Policy 

We ask that you read this Privacy Policy from time to time. ABC may modify this Privacy Policy at any time in its sole discretion. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy that increase our rights to use personal information we have previously collected about you, we will obtain your consent either through an email to your registered email address or by prominent posting on our sites.
